Description/Job Summary

Gaylord Industries is seeking a Warehouse Supervisor to join our team.  Successful candidates will be responsible for day to day operations of finished goods distribution; which includes, receiving, identifying, storing, retrieving and shipping finished goods.  This is a hands-on position, with attention to detail. 


Essential Responsibilities:
  • Retrieval and shipment of finished goods within company objectives.
  • Receiving, verification and identification of all incoming inventory.
  • Post and relieve inventory to computer.
  • Maintain inventory by conducting monthly physical counts; reconciling variances and inputting data.
  • Prepare shipping manifests and documents.
  • Contact commercial freight companies to facilitate timely shipment of goods.
  • Maintain a sense of urgency in daily responsibilities
  • Schedule and coordinate pickup/delivery of recycling yard containers
  • Assist Finance with shipping documentation issues
  • Consult and coordinate with Supply Chain Manager when trucks will arrive and what the loading plans will be.
  • Load and unload trucks
  • Ensure all equipment meets quality standards before shipping.
  • Manage staff scheduling
  • Monitor team performance to ensure daily production goals are met
  • Coach, motivate and train team to improve performance
  • Track attendance and maintain employees in system
  • Resolve personnel problems by investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action and documenting per company policy.
  • Assist with hiring and promotions
  • Communicate goals and expectations; i.e. company policy, plans of action, etc.
  • Ensure the health and safety of his/her workers by enforcing company safety policies, including but not limited to, state and federal regulations.
  • Train new employees
Secondary Responsibilities:
  •  Load dedicated common carrier and containers; unload metal, wood and miscellaneous delivery trucks.
  • Assist in taking physical inventory as required.
  • Design and implement work methods, as well as, procedures.
  • Attain and negotiate with all contract vendors to order materials and material pricing for production supplies.
  • Assist with research and identification of Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN), Harmonized Tariff Schedules (HTS) and Schedule B numbers.
  • Assist with trade compliance risk assessments and audits
  • Assist with internal reporting and recordkeeping of compliance issues or violations
  • Assist with educating team members on Trade Compliance awareness

Required Experience

  • 2+ years Supervisory Experience, warehouse preferred
  • 2+ years inventory experience
  • 1+ years Trade Compliance experience

Required Education

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Education

  • Associates Degree in Business or Logistics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Logistics & International Documentation experience
  • Knowledge or experience with ERP Systems (i.e. Syspro, Epicor, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Global supply chain operations
  • Basic understanding of U.S. Export Administration Regulations
  • Basic understanding of Harmonized Tariff Schedules, Schedule B, Export Control Classification numbers, and the application process for obtaining Exporting Licensing.


Working Conditions:
  • Plant/Warehouse production environment. 
  • Travel <10%
  • Flexible work schedule required; with longer hours expected at month end to meet tight production deadlines.
  • Full time 40 hours per week plus overtime and weekends may be required
